New Article and 3 Book Reviews about Eschatology

April 28, 2009

TheologicalStudies.org would like to make you aware of four new entries on our website (www.TheologicalStudies.org).

First, there is a new article by Michael J. Vlach called “Platonism’s Influence on Christian Eschatology.” This article, originally presented at the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society in November 2008, discusses how Christian views of eschatology are often more influenced by Plato than the Bible. Vlach also discusses how a New Creation Model approach to understanding eschatology is the biblical model and the proper corrective to eschatological views influenced by Platonism. And yes, this article has implications for the debate between Amillennialism and Premillennialism.

Second, we have posted three new reviews of books critical of Dispensationalism or promoting an eschatological view different than Dispensationalism. The books critiqued include: (1) Riddlebarger’s, “A Case for Amillennialism”; (2) Blomberg and Chung’s, “A Case for Historic Premillennialism”; and (3) Waldron’s, “MacArthur’s Millennial Manifesto.” You will want to read these reviews.

Finally, if you have not purchased a copy of Michael Vlach’s new book, “Dispensationalism: Essential Beliefs and Common Myths,” ($8.45) you should strongly consider getting this book soon. This book is now being used in at least three seminaries and in various Bible study groups. If you have a bulk order of more than 10 copies let us know and we can work out a discount.
